Looking Forward (5/12/2021)

It’s been a while since Em and I got our hands on a new game–that is, a game that’s actually “new,” so it’s a good time to look ahead at what games are coming out this month. I’m getting this release info from the Board Game Geek new release list, and these games’ releases might be subject to change. With that said, let’s take a look at the games coming out in May.

Four Gardens
Four Gardens is getting great reviews, but I’m more interested in it because it is just aesthetically pleasing. The landscape cards are gorgeous, and that tower in the center of the table? MWAH! Also, the theme of the game is that you are trying to please the gods by building a garden to their liking. I’m a sucker for that kind of thing.

Masters of the Night
Another game with a unique aesthetic and an intriguing story, Masters of the Night sees you play as a member of a family of Vampires who have just arrived from the old country. You work to claim your piece of the American Dream (or is it the American Nightmare) as you plant your roots and try to establish your family as a power in your new home while avoiding vampire hunters.

Uk’atoa
I’ll be honest…I don’t know much about Uk’atoa. I do know that you play as sailors trying to survive an attack by a sea serpent, and the box art looks RAD. I also know that it’s a 3-5 player, so as interested as I am in this game, I’ll probably end up passing on it.

Arkham Horror LCG- Into the Maelstrom
This is the final chapter of The Innsmouth Conspiracy, which Em and I haven’t started playing yet because we’re waiting until we have the whole campaign. I can’t wait to take Silas Marsh through this one.

Rocketmen
I talked about this one when it was on Kickstarter. Anyway, there’s deckbuilding, there’s hidden roles, there’s space travel. Count me in.

And I think that’s it for this month. It looks like a lot of great games are dropping in June, though, so we’ll check those out in a couple of weeks!
