On the Table – May 23rd to June 20th, 2021

Here’s what hit the Our Meeple Overlords table over the last month. We actually didn’t play as much as we would have liked because we had our floors redone at the Overlords’ Fortress (AKA our Condo), but we’re back at it.

Mystic Vale – We still haven’t busted out any of the expansions we’ve picked up for this game, but Mystic Vale is one of those games that’s just short enough that we’ll play to even when we’re tired after work. I feel like I’m getting better at this game, though my score doesn’t reflect that. Em won, 38-44. See Guest Meeple Kaitlyn’s review here!

Tsuro – Another short game. We had some friends over for the first time since the pandemic began, so we got to play a 5-player game of it. If you ever play with me, just know that I make what I call my Picture Pages sound. If you haven’t seen Picture Pages, you have no idea what that is, but whatever. Anyway, for a change, I WON! WHAT!?!

Legendary – The last 5-player game of that night. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor beat Thanos, though it was touch-and-go for most of the game. In fact, I was ready to concede, but one of our players said he still thought we could win. He was right, and that since we played it as a cooperative game, I was 3-0 for the night!

Lost Ruins of Arnak – Speaking of getting friends together to play games, we’re having a couple of people over this weekend, and this might be one of the games we play, so Em and I played a refresher game of it. If you haven’t played it, Lost Ruins of Arnak is one of those tight worker-placement games where you never feel like you have enough time to do what you need to do, but in the end, it seems to work itself out anyway. Good stuff. And…I won? I’m on a roll, folks! See our review here!

Bring Out Yer Dead – Em and I played this one a few times when we first started dating, but since it plays better with more people, it sat of the shelf for years. With our friends over, we decided to break it out again. It’s a fun, though dated, game about burying your dead relatives in the best gravesites possible. I love the tarot-sized cards the game uses. Anyway, somehow, I won this one too!

Dungeons & Dragons We got in another in-person game of D&D, which is still going well. My character lost the ability to speak coherent sentences, which led to some fun trial-and-error of alternate forms of communication. I regained my speech at the end of the session, which is great, but also, I was kind of having fun not being able to talk. Maybe an idea for my next character.

Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Em and I finished our blind playthrough of The Innsmouth Conspiracy. It…did not go well. Let’s just say that we still have not seen two of the scenarios, but our story is finished. Yeah. Anyway, Silas Marsh and Gloria Goldberg sleep with the fishes. Fish-people. Something like that.

And that’s what we played over the last month! What have you played? Drop us a comment, or find us all over the internet and let us know!
