On the Table: August 17-23, 2020

Here’s what Our Meeple Overlords were playing on the week of August 17th, 2020.

This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the 2-4 of Us – Quick little tile-laying micro game that fits in a cardboard envelope. I actually won! A good way to start the week!

Root: The Clockwork Expansion – I played my final playthrough-before-review game of this expansion. I lost. I mean, I Lossssssst. Here’s the review!

Century: Eastern Wonders – The second of Emerson Matsuuchi’s Century trilogy. We have all three but haven’t played Century: The New World yet. Of the first two games in the trilogy, I prefer Eastern Wonders over Century Spice Road. I lost, of course.

Boats. That’s it. That’s the caption.

Cottage Garden – The first of Uwe Rosenberg’s polyomino-laying trilogy! Build a garden! Fill it with flowers! Put cats in it for…reasons! It’s fun! We spent the whole game with Em thinking she had lost early on, but in the end, she buried me. Like a plant. Well, I mean, you don’t bury a plant, but you do plant it, which is kind of like burying…ANYWAY, I LOST!

Takenoko – Man plots land. Farmer plants bamboo. Panda eats bamboo. It’s the CIRRRR-CLE OF LIIIIIIIIFE! This is one of our all-time favorite games (that we agree on, anyway), and Em wanted to get some pictures of it for our Instagram, so we played it. Wait…did I win a second game this week? I guess I did!

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion – We took almost two weeks off from this game, but we’re back! We successfully completed two scenarios, though I was knocked out in one of them. I was trying my best–you can ask Em–but I was getting the WORST card draws. Check out our review of GJotL.
